Albina North 03:59
Albina North I left the country where I grew up On a boat across the sea In the harbor of the new land stood the Statue of Liberty I wanted to start a different life For reasons I can’t explain There was too much history there and so few of us left to name Hold on, don’t let me slip away Hold on, think of me and say You know my name I found a friend, we found a love Now my daughter bears my name On the front porch there is a light And I no longer feel ashamed The salt stained air from the Oregon coast And everything is corroding away I have no fear and my only wish is that you will not forget me some day Hold on, don’t let me slip away I wrote you a letter, I hope it got through It seems like a long time ago People and places, we all leave traces And I can’t stop thinking of you Hold on, don’t let me slip away Hold on, think of me and say Hold on, don’t let me slip away Hold on, think of me and say You know my name

Contact light I saw Armstrong on the moon on a TV black and white When the Eagle touched the surface He called out ’Contact light’ I wonder was there a moment when he thought we’re gonna die locked inside the capsule his whole life passing by Waiting for that contact light to shine I remember growing up The future looked so bright But we lost the moon, I lost my job and then I lost my wife I’ve been driving all night long With an emptiness inside Passing all the freeway exit signs in sight I’m waiting for that contact light to shine I’m staring at the dashboard The fuel-gage reading low I’m looking for a truck-stop To fill ’er up and go I’m waiting for that contact light to shine Waiting for that contact light to shine

This World 04:18
This World The weather is warmer For this time of year They say that it’s normal but don’t believe all you hear There is no use denying The science is clear This world is all we’ve got We can’t replace it This world is getting to hot And we have to face it together, in this world This world needs love Not more pollution We’re part of the problem And part of the solution Is it all up to me? Is it all up to you? This world is all we’ve got There’s only one place Where we can survive Tell me how do we stay alive? This world is all we’ve got

Nowhere Land 04:40
Nowhere Land I got a letter from a friend of mine It said, my life has turned around I used to drive a cab down-town But now the Uber closed me down I’m on a US highway driving west In a second hand RV with nothing left Just a road map so I can find The promised land that let us down Last night all the sleep I got Was in a Walmart parking lot Everything here is bought and sold I count the miles along the road Midnight’s drawing closer stars are falling in my hand I make a wish for something better and hope to understand this Nowhere Land There used to be a last frontier Now there’s no way out of here Drifters, hobos and restless souls I guess I’m one of the unknown There’s a crack in everything But there’s no light getting in Just a darkness on the edge of town I had it all and now it’s gone Midnight’s drawing closer All-night diners and big-box stores There’s gotta be something more Than fast food joints and shopping malls To really satisfy us all His letter ends like it began All alone in a camper van Overnight shifts at Amazon To make ends meet and moving on

Eugene 04:09
EUGENE The natives found this land And settled here in peace They where not aware of you, Eugene And when the white man came He brought the fever in There was no turning back from that, Eugene You’ve got all the blessings Of nature still unseen But there’s another story here, Eugene You’ve got so much history And it’s darker than it seem But that was then and this is now, Eugene You can paint a picture In different shades of green And you can hide yourself in there, Eugene There’s a chance you’ll find the truth Somewhere in between What happened to your innocence, Eugene I hear they call you names Like Track-Town USA But you can’t run away from this, Eugene I see you at the drive-in There’s a movie on the screen Can you tell me how it’s gonna end, Eugene You can paint a picture… You can show me memories Of your old high-school dreams But did you ever graduate, Eugene It’s funny how the times Keep changing what it means To be alive and see the world, Eugene You can paint a picture…

Breaking of a heart I just heard it on the news That you had passed away With so many things to do And so many songs to play I’m gonna miss you everyday It’s tearing me apart Nothing stops the world from turning Like the breaking of a heart The sound you made was ment to last Your heart beating in your chest Like a song without an end You have finally come to rest I’m gonna miss you everyday It’s tearing me apart Nothing stops the world from turning Like the breaking of a heart
